Light It Up: Where to See the Best Light Shows in Singapore

Singapore is one of the leading economic centres in the world now, in banking and shipping. The cosmopolitan city-state is an excellent place for people who want to backpack and travel around the world. Aside from its growing food and cocktail scene, Singapore has lots of activities and shows that will keep your days here occupied.

The light show scene in Singapore is a cocktail of wonder. You can find on any night of the week a place where the black backdrop is lit with dazzling displays of coloured lights and sounds of simple compositions. And no, you do not need to wonder in the dark, both literally and figuratively, when and where you can see a show that will make your night. Three light shows that you can trust to be up are the following.

Spectra at Marina Bay Sands

The performance at Marina is about entertainment for anyone on either side of the bay. Someone standing at the hotel front will derive just as much pleasure as someone watching from the city. The music is typically projected to be heard from afar and images projected on the fountains of water. Looking at the hotel from the city, you will see the fountains, coloured by lasers that light up the bay.

The Marina Bay houses the most advanced sound and light show in the city, technologically speaking. Looking into the city, you see bubble machines that form shimmering clouds in the air. You see images of children projected on the water. The music played is emotive and borrows from live orchestras. The show opens on Sundays through Thursdays between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m.

OCBC Skyway

If you want to experience a mesmerizing night out with your family, the OCBC Skyway is an excellent place to go to. From the Bay, the structures come alive in different colours, with music filling the whole park. There are more than 50 speakers hidden all over the park. That way, you experience what feels like a home surround system no matter where you stand.

The ‘Supertrees’ make the light and sound performance at OCBC towering and impressive. You can watch the show at 50 metres high, and it lasts for more than 15 minutes. The show culminates in an experience of fireworks that feel like an excellent fashion walk. The light show here opens every day between 7:45 p.m. and 8:45 p.m.

Crane Dance at Sentosa

The crane dance is a light show about elegance and love. When the night comes at the Sentosa Resort, it transforms. Birds wind from their sleep and perform a mating dance. The premise of the show is a pink and a blue crane like each other. The magic of it stretches beyond the imagination. You will see light flashes in tune with the dramatic music, all appearing to participate in the crane dance. The show is open from Thursdays to Mondays at 9 p.m.

Whether you are searching for a spectacular holiday show or a dubstep bonanza, you will find something here in Singapore. Light shows are indeed changing nightlife here.
